Franco Beltrametti Web Site
For a retrospective of the work of artist/poet Franco Beltrametti (1937-1995), Dynamic Diagrams created an interactive Web site that juxtaposed important aspects of the artist's life, work, and travels.
The Challenge: Reveal an Artist's Life
Beltrametti was of Italian Swiss origin. From his native region of Ticino, he traveled all over the world, with extended stays in Japan, the United States, Italy, France, and Luxembourg. His creative output spanned graphic arts, painting, and poetry. Our challenge was to illuminate the peripatetic sweep of this artist's life in a compelling, interactive way within the technological constraints of publishing over the Internet.
Our Solution: Draw Inspiration from the Source
The Beltrametti Web site, developed in Macromedia Flash, uses Beltrametti's art as inspiration for its interface and multi-layered architecture. The site combines examples of Beltrametti's visual and poetic works with his autobiography, animated maps of his travels, and text and photos of his fellow artists and writers.
The Web site was first displayed at the Mendrisio Museo d'arte in Mendrisio Switzerland in September, 1999.
