Document Design for Publishing System
As Schlumberger Oilfield Services began planning its new publishing system, it asked Dynamic Diagrams to create the designs for the documents it would contain.
The Challenge: Users Need Easy Access to Specifics
In the new system, highly-detailed technical documents are presented in both print and Web formats. We needed to create separate designs that presented the same hierarchy of information in the different media. For the online format, we needed to design a navigation system that linked users quickly to the section in a document they needed to read.
Our Solution: Constant Focus on Document Requirements
Before proposing any designs, we gathered and reviewed design requirements and documentation standards to determine an appropriate design approach. Ongoing design reviews ensured that Schlumberger managers supported our approach and that their publishing system vendor could confidently implement our designs.
