Guiding buyers to better tools

Netscape Communications Corporation was looking for ways to better market and deliver its e-commerce products. Familiar with Dynamic Diagrams’ analysis and web-mapping work, Netscape asked us to develop the interface for Solution Builder, a web application that would guide buyers to different bundles of modular tools.

We approached the problem on two fronts. By analyzing user roles, we developed a set of questions to help users self-select what they needed. In parallel, we designed a visual system for the full set of tools. By connecting the visual system to user interactions, we created the centerpiece of the Solution Builder interface.
